Yesterday I finally had a chance to get into my classroom and get my teaching mojo going! It was exciting to see some of my co-workers and see how anxious everyone was to get into their rooms and start getting things done. I was only there for a few hours but I did manage to get a lot of furniture moved to the approximate places that I would like them to be. Since I moved into a new classroom, I’m not quite sure if everything will work out the way that I envision it to, but it’s okay if it doesn’t because I can always make changes. Yesterday and today I plan to work on the room arrangement and getting everything unpacked from my old room. Then I can dive head first into getting my atmosphere and decorations the way that I would like them to be. I’m known for having a very bright and cheery room and I can’t let my colleagues and families down J!
When I came home last night I was very motivated to get cracking on some of the things I will need for the room. I already have a few things mapped out on my Gypsy but I probably won’t cut those until Saturday so I can give the room my undivided attention, decoration-wise on Monday. Anyway, back to what I was saying, every year I create my bathroom passes to go along with my room/school theme. This year our school is going with a Patriotic type of theme, but of course we are able to put our own spin on things, which I always tend to do! J I am planning on incorporating the red white and blue theme with some fireworks and stars thrown in there. I’m excited because I know it will get my 1st graders excited too! Lots of sparkle & shine!
When I started working on these hall passes, I had NO CLUE what I wanted them to look like. I just pulled out some things that I thought might work and got started. As I kept working, things started to come together and I was completely pleased with the end result! So enough of my rambling let me show you how they turned out!
I started with this 8'' star that I picked up from Michaels
The striped paper is by Recollections. "Boys" is cut from Birthday Bash, I used my Gypsy to weld the letters together
Those adorable sparklers are from the new Summer Celebrations cartridge! I just love them. The silver layer is actually glitter paper from the K & Company Americana set. I punched some 1'' circles to help the sparklers "pop"
I LOVE how my girls pass turned out. The blue glittery star paper is from K & Company Americana Set. "Girls" was also cut from Birthday Bash using my Gypsy.
These fireworks also come from the Summer Celebrations Cartridge.
Aren’t they so much fun! They aren’t quite finished. I still need to get my mister to drill a hole in the top so that I can string some ribbon through in order for me to hang it on the hooks I’m going to have by my door. The ribbon will also help to keep tiny fingers from messing these works of beauty up completely! I hope you enjoyed seeing these and be sure to stop back throughout the week to see what else I have created for my classroom!
